Charlie Kirk Haters Need to Repent!
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.” (James 3:1-3 ESV)
The world is made up of all kinds of people. We have
all likely said or done something in our lives that we later regretted,
sometimes even immediately after we said or did the hurtful, hateful, or even
just thoughtless deed. I may be referring just to those who have at the very
least, a set of general personal guidelines as to how to relate to others in a
positive manner, if not those of us who have a moral compass that is set to the
standard that God established for us.
It is sad that there are many selfish, self-serving,
and perhaps even ‘evil’ people in this world that care more about their own
personal agenda than they do about humanity in general. In knowing this, I’m not
surprised to hear the hateful/hurtful/untrue comments on the internet that were
and are being said concerning who Charlie Kirk was, the things he said, and
what he stood for. I am curious to know if these people have given any thought
to the consequences of their choices in putting such deceitful viewpoints and
behaviors out for all the world to see? There are consequences that may occur
not only in their lives and careers but that can affect the lives of others as
well
It appears to me that the choices to put out false
narratives are at minimum “ignorant”, “attention-seeking”, or in the worst case,
“demonic”. “If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and
readied his bow;” (Psalm 7:12, ESV)
Please repent, for your own well-being, God knows who
you are!!
It is not surprising to hear such rhetoric from certain
angry segments of the population, the ones that always seem to be “looking for
a fight” or just choose to purely be “oppositional”. Many of us would also not
be surprised if some evil people with deep pockets associated with one or more radical
hate groups are paying vulnerable people to display such hatred… think about
it!!
The thing that leads me to continually shake my head
in disbelief is when I hear hateful/hurtful/untrue things out of the mouths of segments
of the population whom the rest of us are supposed to be able to look up to.
The people I’m referring to are those who are in some kind of governing
authority in our
communities and may even be leaders in some of our churches. I have witnessed
such divisive and deceitful speeches from governors, senators, and other
political leaders who spew things in public that are misleading to the people they were entrusted
to lead. I am in such disbelief that these people allowed themselves to
participate in such behavior much less encourage others to do so as well.
“Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp
razor, you worker of deceit.” (Psalm 52:2, ESV) “You love all words that
devour, O deceitful tongue.” Psalm 52:4, ESV
“They bend their tongue like a bow;
falsehood and not truth has grown strong in the land; for they proceed from
evil to evil, and they do not know me, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:3,
ESV)
That which especially saddened me was when I stumbled
upon a pastor on the internet who was supposedly a man of God. The things that
were coming out of his mouth were hatred and lies. The greatest commandment
that God gave us was to love God and love one another. The behavior that this
preacher displayed was anything but godly, and his congregants were displaying the
hateful chanting along with him. I now pray for his congregants who are sorely
being misled. I pray that this preacher and those like him will repent and
admits their wrongdoing to their congregants and the world so they can shepherd
those under their influence with a clean conscience and a pure heart.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.” (Proverbs 18:21, ESV)
