God is real!
What if it is true that ... God is real!?!
I began to write this post months ago but only got as far as the theme with one paragraph that is included later in this text. The fact that Christmas is right around the corner is what prompted me to continue with this subject matter at this time. Most people are aware, to some degree anyway, that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is what Christmas is all about. This is evidenced by all the nativity scenes one is able to view on people's lawns as well as the fact that "Christian" church pews fill up at this time of year. There are people who choose not to even set foot into a church at other times of the year much less show up to regularly fellowship with other believers on a weekly basis. There are also plenty of people who celebrate Christmas simply as a tradition of getting together with family, and or all that is entailed with gift giving.
You may choose not to believe in God, but that doesn't make God any less real. In fact, there may be a Biblical reason for your unbelief. 2 Corinthians 3:14, NLT says: "but the people's minds were hardened (blinded), and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil can be removed only by believing in Christ." Mathew 15:14 (ESV) states concerning non-believers: "Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit."
Faith in God, in Christ, in anything, is a choice. Anyone can research any subject matter and find evidence to support their argument for or against just about anything. My purpose herein is not to convince you to believe, or to confirm your belief in God. I simply hope that you begin to seek, or if you are a believer, that you continue to seek the truth. Proverbs 30:5 (ESV) states "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." God made a promise to all people that anyone who asks to know the truth that it will be revealed to them. A scripture that states it simply is John 8:32 (ESV), "and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
There are some people who, when they find themselves in conversations about God, will indicate that they believe in "science" not in "God". One can suggest to these naysayers to research the existence of God from a scientific basis. What they will likely find is evidence to suggest not only that the beginning of the world has some evidence of a creator behind it, but the formation of the moon, stars, animals, plants, etc. shows evidence of a plan and specific designer at the helm. Hence, God is actually the reason for the science they say they believe. Evidence also suggests that over half of scientists believe in a higher power.
I hope for you, that while you are having your traditional celebrations with your family and or friends, you ponder what this season is all about. If you are alone, I encourage you to find a church that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and go to a service. If you are one of those people who thinks that you have been so far away from God that you will not be welcomed in a church, I encourage you to think again. I only pray that you will be led to the church that will be the right fit for you in terms of style of worship, etc. So, above all, know this... Jesus Christ was sent to the world as God's one and only son. He is the only way to the true God. He is the "good news" that was sent to save us from ourselves. All we have to do is believe!
