"YOUR Truth" MAY NOT be "THE Truth"
"YOUR Truth" MAY NOT be
"THE Truth"
There was a
time, seemingly not that long ago, when common knowledge of what
"truth" meant was evident in the hearts and minds of mankind in
general. Today, evidence suggests that such an awareness is not so common… or
perhaps, is just being ignored.
According to
Miriam Webster dictionary definitions (as found on random web locations as well
as in the physical bound dictionary), the word ‘truth’ is used specifically in
relation to ‘facts’ ‘reality’ ‘actual events’ and such. Nowadays, people have
taken personal liberty regarding what “truth” means in a similar way as they
have taken liberty in terms of what “justice” should look like. But we will
save the topic of “justice” for another time.
Most Christ
followers are aware of a familiar scripture that states “Jesus said to him ‘I
am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me”. This is quoted in the book of John, Chapter 14, verse six in the
English Standard Version (aka John 14:6, ESV) of the Holy Bible.
That one scripture,
when believed as it was meant to be - as fact, can answer many questions for all
mankind if fully understood. Those who understand this “fact” are not the same
people who make general or global statements that suggest that “their truth”
can be different from “your truth” or “my truth”.
Notwithstanding,
there can be some things in your life that that are true about you as a person
that are not true about me as a person. I am going to use an example of
something that peculiarly has become very controversial in current times. That being
said, people are born “male” or “female”. It is true that there is a percentage
of people who are born with some anomalies that may make it challenging to
determine what gender they were meant to be by their outward appearance.
However, with specific DNA analysis and testing, it can be determined if they
have the ‘normal’ “XX” chromosomes (female) or “XY” (male). There are also gender
related anomalies with corresponding “X” and “Y” chromosomal variations (“X”,
“XYY”, “XXX”, “XYYX” …), you can research these on your own.
The fact
remains that when people decide later in life that although they are born
female and get surgically modified to resemble a male or are born male and
become surgically modified to resemble a female, their DNA is what it is and
speaks the truth of their gender. Hence, they can “pretend” that they are now
the opposite gender and give people a hard time if they do not call them by the
gender in which they ‘choose to associate themselves by’ this in itself does
not make it true. It doesn’t make it true any more than a woman can become
a mermaid, or a Prius can become a van. Therefore, how does it make sense that
a man who has his genitals cut off and takes female hormones (but still has XY
– ie: male, chromosomes) should be permitted to compete in sports with “real
women” – those who have XX chromosomes. It is pure fantasy. One might as well
permit cats to enter a dog show or do barrel racing with zebras or donkeys
rather than horses. It just doesn’t make sense.
All that being said, something doesn’t come true just because it is popular, or because you want it to be true. This is relevant not only regarding changing one's gender, but concerning other things, such as what is portrayed in any and all media outlets, and what friends and family may say it fact. God calls us to have a discerning spirit. Hence, seek the truth, and surely you will find it. Most of all, pray that you recognize it when it is staring you in the face!!
