You are not the only one who is tempted ...

"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and to forfeit his soul?  Mark 8:36, ESV

I watch how people interact with one another. And I hear about situations that people I know are experiencing or other people in their lives are in the midst of. There is so much hurt and pain in this world... and even more selfishness, hedonism, and is leaning heavily in the direction of EVIL!

There is the obvious stuff we hear about in the news every day; but there are things happening in our own homes and in the homes of people we love and care about. WHY ARE WE NOT DOING SOMETHING TO STOP THIS INSANITY???

 We are not that different, you and I... whoever you are. WE need to be bold and speak up when we see TRUE injustices being done. Injustice is NOT a person born as a boy who is getting in touch with his sensitive nature, not being allowed to take estrogen to change his biological chemistry. Injustice is for the BOY to be using the GIRLS bathroom which will naturally lead to the girls and their family's being uneasy, and righteously feeling as if an injustice has been done to them.

Many people feel dissatisfied in their current life situation; welcome to being human. These feelings can be affected by hormones, diet, and other environmental factors. It doesn't matter whether it is your experience as a parent, a child, a spouse, an employee, a volunteer, there is always someone around who's life seem better than our own... maybe it is, maybe it is not. The point is that we are where we are because of the choices we have or have not made.

If you do not like your job, marriage, the way your parents talk to you, etc. then do something differently. We cannot change anyone else's behavior; we can only change our own. If your boss fires you, you are free to pursue something new. If you are in an abusive dating situation, or any kind of abusive relationship, get out now. If you are a child, tell a trusted adult. If you are an adult - report it!

If you are married and someone else makes a choice to end a relationship and you are both Christ followers, please seek Godly wisdom to do everything possible to heal it. Matthew 18:15-17 (paraphrased) says that if someone sins against you, that you should take two others to confront them. If he does not listen, then tell it to the church. If they insist on leaving anyway, pray for them.

If you are the person leaving a marriage to pursue your own selfish desires, I have a special message for you... grow the hell up! Do you think you are the only one who has ever felt this way? You owe it to your spouse, God, and yourself to try everything possible to heal the relationship!

I leave you with this:  "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."   1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV

Facts, Faith, Freedom, and Fantasy are not the same

 We are well into the Christmas season as evidenced in the stores, the festive clothing people are wearing, and the lights and decorations that are showing up daily in yards around town. This is a time when we tend to reflect on the past and times when we shared joys of the season with loved ones who are no longer with us. There may also be a sense of melancholy in the air with thoughts of what could have been. Then, lest we forget, there are some people who have heavy hearts due to thoughts of the family and friends who are either physically distant, emotionally distant or both. Thanksgiving Is A Choice

 Someone who knows I do this blog, and who's opinion I value, asked me today if I was planning to write a blog for Thanksgiving. I have been feeling melancholy of late in spite of the fact that I have much to be thankful for, so, I am a real-life example of someone who can be having a personal pity party and still have gratitude. In spite of myself and my personal pity party, I do feel led to write a blog on Thanksgiving, for Thanksgiving. So, here goes. I believe that thankfulness, gratefulness, faith, and love are congruent with each other as far as being attitudes of choice.
